The teachers liaison group

The Teachers' Liaison Group (TLG) main current functions are:
  • to provide the SCD teachers of Sydney with opportunities to improve their teaching skills through workshops, and contact, with other teachers
  • run Easy Dance socials, where dancers can introduce friends to a social dance night, all dances are walked through, and the emphasis is on FUN
  • run workshops for dancers who would like to improve their dancing
  • to coordinate the calendar of dance events in the Sydney region, hoping to avoid clashes of dates.

The group was set up by Sydney Branch in 1972 to make it possible for teachers to meet regularly to exchange ideas on teaching. This was at a time when, although there were many dancers, there were very few certificated teachers. TLG took on the task of helping teachers to improve their teaching skills. Ever since, visiting teachers from within Australia and from overseas have conducted workshops for Sydney teachers on behalf of the TLG. Workshops for dancers, and Easy Dance Socials, were introduced later.
Members of Sydney Branch who teach a class, whether they have a Teachers’ Certificate or not, are eligible to join the TLG.
